The 2013 Annual Grasmere Lakeland Sports, now celebrating 161 years of existence, has been a regular annual event since 1868, unbroken except for the two periods of the First and Second World Wars. Westmorland County Show is held in September.
The Westmorland County Show is one of the largest one day Shows in the Country and certainly one of the oldest, given that the Society was founded in 1799 and is still going from strength to strength 213 Shows later.
Voted by the Farmers Guardian readers as the 5th top Show and the only one-day show in the top 12!
This is the sixteenth year for the Dickensian Christmas Festival, one of the most popular Dickensian Festival events in the country. It attracts thousands of people but its not too packed for visitors and local people to wander around and have a fabulous time and savour the wonderful atmosphere of a traditional market town in the Dickensian era.
Well worth a visit on the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November 2014.
